A second career maker who returned to jewellery design in 2015, twenty years after graduating from Middlesex University with a Jewellery Design BA. Dittany makes contemporary jewellery in a range of colours, working in silver, layered coloured card and clear resin. She aims to create pieces that are light, fresh and easy to wear; geometric shapes that add a pop of colour to an outfit; abstract forms without austerity, clean lines but with subtlety and detail.
You can recognize Dittany Rose's work immediately with its distinctive patterns, which are all developed from hand-drawn images. These patterns include Anemone, based on sea anemones squished together on a rock and Microorganism, based on doodles of bacteria.
She draws her inspirations from the materials she works with, and from abstract forms in nature. Her working process involves experimentation with the way her three key materials combine. In some pieces silver wire is trapped inside the paper and resin, with the resulting ridge becoming a feature. Her current collection includes stud earrings, drop earrings, brooches, pendants and cufflinks.
